In-house attorneys for the National Treasury Employees Union and AARP filed separate amicus briefs arguing the federal Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) imposes a lower burden on government workers claiming age discrimination than on private-sector workers. A ruling otherwise would permit unregulated ageism by federal agencies, according to the attorneys.
