Dubbed "Green Memory," the study targets bacteria in the gut to slow the disease. It is looking at whether the investigational medication may improve brain function and slow the development of Alzheimer's by rebalancing certain bacteria in the gut. It was first approved outside of the United States and is now available to be tested in the U.S. To qualify, volunteers must be diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease and be between the ages of 50 and 85 years old. They must also have a partner who knows them well and can come with the volunteer to all study-related visits.
